Why Join a Bonsai Society?

Bonsai is a practical subject requiring artistic skill and horticultural knowledge. As a craft it requires the ability to design or maintain a tree in three dimensions. Whilst books can provide an invaluable source of information they cannot substitute for knowledge gained by handling real bonsai.

All those aspiring to own a bonsai tree soon realise that there is much more to the subject than might at first be apparent. However the skills required are not difficult to understand and master when seen first hand but can be extremely difficult to describe with just words and drawings. In order to develop the necessary skills therefore it really is best to attend a bonsai club. It took the orientals many hundreds of years of trial and error to perfect the art of bonsai, but it is possible to acquire the basics in just a few evenings at a club.

Join Beds Bonsai Society and you will soon learn:

  • How to prune your tree to keep it healthy
  • How and when to re-pot your tree
  • What to feed it and when
  • How often it should be watered
  • Hot to protect your tree from pests and diseases
  • Where to buy specialist tools
  • How to start and maintain a collection of bonsai trees
